She was already facing
them by the time they had turned around.
    Lilith
raised her hand quickly and the door they had come through slammed shut.
“You’re not leaving here alive!”
    “We
need to do something fast. I can’t take much more of this. She is so
beautiful!” Balen said. His expression was one of emotional agony.
    “She’s
hideous!” Demona said. “Should I call for back up?”
    “No,
we may still have a chance,” Balen went to the door and tried to pull it open,
to make sure their escape route was still available. “It’s jammed. Lilith just
cut off our exit.”
    “Kerrick,
you can’t leave me. I want you!” Lilith said.
    They
turned back to her.
    Lilith
produced a fire ball in her outstretched hand. Then, she flung the flaming ball
on the ground and the fire erupted. It quickly spread on the old wooden floor
boards.
    “You
may want to call for reinforcements now! That fire is coming closer. This old
wood is like kindling,” Balen said.
    We’re going to
burn to death! Demona
stepped in front of Balen. She closed her eyes and let her fear of the
situation flow through her. She put her hands outwards. Demona’s eyes flew open
as she began to feel the mageia surging and began to harness her emotions. The flames were within feet of
Demona and Balen. Her skin felt as if it would melt, so she pushed the flames
away with the mageia . The farther the
flames moved away, with the wind, the higher they grew.
    Well, I guess
there is no denying it any longer.
    A
look of panic spread across Lilith’s already hideous face. She had finally
realized that in blocking Demona and Balen’s escape she had also trapped
herself.
    Demona
continued to push the growing wall of flames in Lilith’s direction.
    Lilith
backed away as the flames pursued her, until she was against the wall. The blindingly
bright flames began to lick at her feet and her body quickly caught fire. An
ear piercing scream reverberated off the walls as her body was engulfed.
    Demona
and Balen watched for what seemed like hours, as the body disappeared into the
towering inferno. Eventually, Demona managed to reduce the flames into a small
fire. Then there was nothing left, but charred smoking floor boards. Demona had
no idea how she had controlled the fire or put it out, but she was thankful to
be alive.
    “What?”
Demona asked.
    “Twice
you have saved my life. Do you believe you have a mageia now?”

    Chapter 6
    The Date

    Demona
yanked at the charred door that had been stuck moments before. It fell from the
smoldering door jamb and she returned to the young man’s side. She grasped his
wrist to check his pulse again, when he began to stir. A groan escaped his
lips.
    “It’s
okay, you’re safe,” Demona said. “Try not to move. I don’t know what kind of
injuries you have.”
    The
young man’s eyes opened.
    Demona
found herself looking into bright blue eyes that were staring right back at
her. A pang of longing went through Demona’s body. Demona shook her head in an
attempt to clear her mind. What am I
thinking? Demona looked back down at the man. She saw that he had not
looked away and she blushed.
    He
smiled. “Are you an angel?”
    Demona
giggled. Stop it! You are acting like a
love sick little girl! “No, I’m not an angel. I’m just your
average…person.” The young man had a gorgeous smile, and warmth spread through
Demona’s body as she looked at him. Control
yourself, Demona.
    “I’m
Felix Fulbright.” He groaned once more as he attempted to sit up.
    “No,
lay still.”
    “So…”
Felix said.
    “So,
what?” Demona stared at the attractive young man.
    “Well,
what’s your name?”
    “Oh,
it’s D-Demona.”
    “Is
that it,” Felix smiled a half smile, “just Demona? Interesting name… I like it,
very um…sinister.”
    “Thanks.
Felix isn’t the most average name either you know.”
    “You
have pretty eyes.”
    Demona
rolled her eyes at Felix’s comment. “I think you were
