yet. I’m guessing they should fit you. You guys are close to the same size.”
“I don’t know. It’s bad enough I’m fuc… I mean, sleeping with the guy’s sister. Now I’m gonna take his clothes, too?”
“Well, you don’t have to wear them. If you have to leave me to change, I’ll understand.” Kelsey tilted her head down and looked up at him through her eyelashes. It was a look that had worked with the men in her family for most of her life, and when his expression softened, she knew it worked on him just as well.
“No, it’s okay.” He started thumbing through the items in the box. “Looks like he and I have the same taste in clothes, anyway.”
She smiled in relief. She wasn’t sure why she was nervous. Perhaps she was afraid if he left, he wouldn’t return. “I’m afraid there isn’t any…um…underwear, though.”
He caught her off guard when he leant down for a quick, but heated kiss. “Don’t you remember? I don’t wear any.”
She had to catch her breath. The combination of his kiss, his tone of voice, and his half-naked body were becoming too much for her. Perhaps spending the day in bed isn’t such a bad idea.
“You have any food in the kitchen, Bright Eyes?”
“Yes,” she said as she cleared her throat, trying to compose herself. What this man can do with just a kiss. “I have food.”
“Okay. You get dressed and I’ll go downstairs and fix us some breakfast.” He pulled a pair of jeans and a button-down shirt from the box
    “You can cook?”
“Yeah. I’ve been known to whip up a dish or two. You sound shocked.”
“I guess you’re full of surprises, too.” The air was thick as she gazed into his eyes. There was something powerful between them, she couldn’t deny that.
He suddenly looked away and slipped on the jeans. “Tell me something, baby.”
“What do you want to know?” She moved closer and her voice began to take on a sultry tone.
    “What’s that?”
She looked to where he pointed and somehow found the words to answer. “That leads to the roof. I’ve got a nice space up there with a patio table and a couple chairs. Since the rest of the area is abandoned, I have complete privacy. It’s like my own little oasis.”
“I was wondering where the third door led.” He zipped up and slid his arms into the sleeves of the shirt, leaving it unbuttoned, and handed her the towel he had removed from his waist. “And if I let you kiss me right now, we’ll never make it out of the room, so I had to change the subject. Now, you take a relaxing shower, and I’ll make you a good breakfast. How does that sound?”
Kelsey was briefly disappointed when he turned away, but with a rumble of her stomach, she admitted he was right. “Sounds really good, actually. I hope you’re a good cook.”
“One way to find out.” He walked towards the staircase, fishing his cell phone from the pocket of his discarded jeans on the way. ”Take your time. I’ll be downstairs when you’re ready.”
As his foot hit the bottom step, he switched on his cell phone, sighing at the beep signalling a new voicemail. He punched the speed dial button and waited for the message, knowing full well who it was before the number had even finished dialling.
“My priorities are straight, you son of a bitch,” he mumbled as he quickly deleted the message. He began sending a text, but then decided to call instead. He wanted to make it clear he wasn’t to be disturbed. Today, Kelsey was his priority.
“Yeah, it’s me.” He was unconcerned about being overheard with the shower running upstairs. “What the hell do you want now?”
“You said you were going to contact him,” the gravelly voice responded.
“You want me to do it at ten a.m.? Damn it, be real, dude. I call him now and I raise all kinds of suspicions. It’s been years since we’ve spoken. I can’t be too anxious.”
“I don’t want you to lose focus because of a piece of ass. You have a job to
