irrational but she couldn’t help it.
Dominic once again slid out of the booth and allowed her to scoot back in. She smoothed down her skirt and looked up to meet his gaze. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her lips. Her pulse spiked.
He put the small control on the table. “Shall we test it?”
    Ruth nodded.
“Don’t scream.” He pressed the button.
She jerked as the egg began a steady vibration deep inside her core. She gripped the table and whimpered.
He stroked her hair. “Good girl. You’re so fucking responsive it drives me insane.”
The vibration stopped. Her nostrils flared. She panted and gulped in air, all the while conscious of the other patrons. Dominic stroked her hair again, cooed soothing words in her ear.
When she calmed down, he ordered some drinks. “I like keeping you on the edge. Does it excite you, Ruth?”
    “Yes.”
“Are you okay to talk?” The mischief in his eyes made her smile.
“I think I can string a sentence together now.”
The drinks arrived. The waitress put two beers on the table and left.
“This has probably been a little intense for you.” He tugged on a few strands of her hair.
Understatement of the century. Intense. Wild. Exciting. “It has but it’s fine. It’s not like I don’t enjoy what we are doing.”
“Why do I hear a ‘but’ in that sentence?”
Ruth gave a nervous laugh. “There isn’t a ‘but’. I know you said you wanted me. I want to know what that means.”
Some clarification of their relationship would make her feel a lot easier.
He took a sip of his beer before stroking his beard. “I’m sure you know a lot about me. My past. I like the type of sex most people would consider edgy. I like dominating women. I like bondage and spanking, I like taking control. I’ve done some crazy shit in the past.” He cupped her face. “I can’t change who I am any more than you can. I have to have you. You drive me crazy, Ruth.”
She gulped. Her heart melted, her insides turned to liquid. Genuine affection and need blazed in his eyes. No one had ever felt this intensely for her before. It was thrilling.
She put her hand over his, leaned into his palm. “You have me.”
“I’m still hearing a ‘but’. Did I get it wrong? Does the dominance scare you?”
For the first time, she sensed a hint of vulnerability and uncertainty in him.
“No. No.” She gnawed her lower lip. “I love you being in control. It’s…well…when you said edgy. I…urmm…”
He was looking at her, waiting for her to finish. Now she had to voice her concerns.
She squirmed. “I know you had a threesome with Hope and Ethan. Is that something you enjoy? Expect? Would you…would I…?” Have to fuck other people? She couldn’t bring herself to say those last few words.
A dark look passed over his face, narrowed his eyes and thinned out his lips. “No, never. It’s something I’ve done in the past. I’m not Ethan. Even if you had a desire, I’m not sharing you with anyone. Ever. You’re mine. Do you understand?”
Ruth nodded and exhaled. “It was a deal breaker for me.”
“How do you feel about the fact I had sex with your best friend?”
Sometimes his directness shocked her. He had a way of getting to the heart of what was bothering her. “Awkward at first. A little weird. I wasn’t sure I could ever be in an intimate relationship with you. You know, your cock has been inside my friend and that was weird for me.”
“I understand. I’m not going to apologize for it. I don’t apologize for the things I’ve done in the past. But that’s where they are—the past. I did it for Ethan. And for Hope. I can only assure it won’t ever happen again. No sharing. No fucking other women. I want you, Ruth.”
His eyes softened and her heart melted. “I know.”
She’d made peace with the fact he’d screwed her friend. After talking with Hope, she understood the circumstances. She’d been jealous but with Dominic looking at her as if she
