A Billionaire BWWM Romance 5: The Other Man
lips as he watched her pretend to sing into a
microphone. She was perfect. Every bit of her was. Even in the
t-shirt and tights, she was still the most gorgeous woman to him. He
couldn’t imagine a life without her… ever. His heart was beating
fast as he watched her all the while trying to figure out how he
would approach her without startling her. He smiled and began walking
towards the iPod speakers and then turned it off making Julie turn
around surprised.
    “ I’m
sorry…I didn’t mean to startle you,” Steven said
apologetically. She shrugged and switched off the vacuum cleaner.
    “ It’s
okay,” she replied.
    “ Some
late night cleaning, I see,” he joked. She smiled and shrugged.
    “ I
needed to get my head off things,” she admitted. Steven felt
his heart sink. He looked at her as he tried getting the right words
for his apology. There was no sure way to start or end this. This was
the most annoying feeling in the world. Nothing he formulated in his
head seemed to be right.
    “ Listen,
I…” they both started before they smiled at each other.
    “ You
go first,” Julie offered. Steven smiled and walked towards her
slowly. “Don’t. I’ve been cleaning all day,”
she said when Steven got too close. But he shook his head and took a
step forward before taking her face in his hands and kissing her
deeply. When he pulled away, her hands were at her side. “What
was that for?”
    “ I
missed you,” he whispered.
    “ I
missed you too.”
    “ And
I’m an idiot for walking out on you that night,” he
confessed. She smiled and put her hands on his shoulders. She opened
her mouth to speak, but he shook his head and put his index finger on
her lips. “No, I know you are going to say that I needed the
time to process the shock but I should have stuck by you. That’s
what we do,” he said. She smiled and felt a heaviness in her
eyes. Her gaze dropped when she felt a tear roll down one cheek.
“Hey, don’t do that,” he soothed as he brushed the
tear away using his thumb. She closed her eyes and a fresh flow of
tears rolled down her cheeks. Steven pulled her into his arms and
held her close.
    “ I
thought I lost you,” she whispered. Steven planted a kiss on
her head.
    “ You
wouldn’t even if you tried,” he reassured her. Julie
smiled and pulled away from him.
    “ I’m
really sorry,” she apologized. Steven shook his head.
    “ What
for? You can’t be sorry for something that is totally not your
fault.”
    “ Well,
I at least should have known,” she said. He smiled and kissed
her again.
    “ We
all marry people we hate and wonder why we did it in the first
place,” he said. She pulled away and looked at him. “Don’t
look at me like that. I’m just saying stuff to comfort you.”
She smiled and took his hand in hers.
    “ Can
I get you something to eat?” she offered.
    “ Maybe
just something really light,” he suggested. “My tummy is
still a bit unsettled from all the motion?” She looked at him
and raised an eyebrow.
    “ So
you really were in New York?”
    “ Did
you think I was avoiding you?” . She shrugged.
    “ I
thought it was something you made up just so you didn’t have to
face me,” she admitted. Steven forced out a laugh.
    “ That’s
not my style,” he said as the two made their way to the
kitchen.
    “ Is
Terrence with you?” she asked. Steven ran his fingers through
his hair and sighed.
    “ I
better release him,” he teased as he reached for his phone in
his jacket pocket. She looked at him and smiled. “Or would you
rather I left?” There was a playful tone in his voice when he
asked that.
    “ Depends.
Are you sleeping with Terrence?” she asked. He frowned and
quickly dialed Terrence.
    “ You
know you will pay for that, right?” he asked with a smile.
Julie flashed him a naughty smile and nodded. “Terrence,
listen, you can take off. I’ll call you in the morning and let
you know what time to come pick me up,” he told him before he
hung
