something a person needs in the bedroom. I don’t think I can give that to him. And I really don’t want to get involved and have it blow up in my face. I like my job.”
Granted, she was thinking of leaving, knew she would soon. But she would be damned if she would spend her last few months on Oahu watching Micah take other subs. It would break her heart.
“Ah, well, I hate to tell you, girlfriend, you reek of submissive.”
Dee narrowed her eyes at her friend. “How the hell would you know?”
“Jeez, I’ve worked there a few years, I know. I’m not into it, although I tried a couple years ago. So not my thing. But Dee, don’t think I don’t know what books you read.”
Dee frowned. “Even so, I wouldn’t know what to do when I got there. When he started asking me about my experience— ”
“Wait. Do- everything- by- the- book Micah Ross asked you about your sex life?”
    Dee nodded.
“You do know you are fighting a losing battle?”
Sighing, Dee said, “I hope not. I definitely wouldn’t know what to do with a man like Micah in my bed.”
Keisha studied her. “Is this because you’re a virgin?”
Surprise then embarrassment shifted through her. “How did you know?”
Keisha rolled her eyes. “I’ve watched you date a lot of men the last couple of years. They never spend the night at your place, and I’ve never seen you do the walk of shame.”
Dee sighed. “Well, that makes three people who know. Jesus, I thought my sex life was personal.”
“In a place like Rough ’n Ready? Please. Wait, did you say three people? You told Micah?”
Again, fire lit her face. “I couldn’t help myself. He asked me to come talk to him last night. He kept insisting I was submissive and I just wanted out of his office, away from him. And he kept asking over and over what I liked in bed, if I had ever had an orgasm and I blurted it out. I couldn’t help it.”
Again, Keisha fell back in her chair giggling.
“Oh, great, I’m glad to have given you some joy.”
“I’m so sorry, but I can’t help but laugh. I mean, what did Micah do?”
“Nothing. He said nothing.” And that was the humiliating part of it. She had yet to meet him face to face since the incident, so she had no idea if he was avoiding her or not. She was both thankful and pissed off.
“What do you mean he said nothing?”
“I blurted it out, then he got the strangest look on his face. He opened his mouth but said nothing. I was so embarrassed I bolted out of the office. I haven’t talked to him since.”
“Oh, woman, you are in some serious trouble.”
Dee jerked her shoulder. “I have a feeling it got rid of any interest from him. Micah never fools around with the inexperienced.”
    “You’re different.”
“Yeah, I’m special.” Sarcasm dripped from her tone.
    “You are.”
She stood, wanting to get away from her friend and the conversation. Keisha latched onto her arm. “He has done a lot of things he doesn’t do with you around. He’s pursued you, somewhat, while you worked for him. He kissed you, at work. Asking you about your sex life, that is so not like Micah. If you had gone to him for advice, that would be different. You didn’t. He approached you, then you blurt that out. He might be figuring things out, but I have a feeling you’re about to know what it’s like to have a big bad alpha come after you. And darling, seeing the way you feel about him, I don’t doubt that something is going to happen.”
    “I can’t handle it. Him.”
Shame crawled through her. One of her biggest faults was pride. She hated admitting it. She was a grown woman and wasn’t able to handle going to bed with a man. Especially this man. Resisting them had always been easy, or somewhat easy. Micah wasn’t a man who would sell her out, and that made it worse. She knew there was a good chance she could take what he offered, and definitely enjoy it, with no harm to her life. But she knew if she did it, there was a good
