Agon
she walked from behind his wings and
looked at the man standing there. He looked…he looked like he was
going to bust from laughter.
    “ I have just come from a
visit with Joseph. He said that you dismissed him. I thought…I
assumed you did not want to be here.” Judith watched as the man
took a step in her direction and Agon’s wings spread more. “You
think to protect her from Me, Agon?”
    “ I do not…she is mine to
protect.” The man nodded and looked at her. “She was just
explaining a kiss to me. It is not…it is something that I have
never experienced before. And she was nice enough to show me how it
was done.”
    Judith wasn’t sure she liked the way
the other man smiled at her, but she was too hurt by what Agon was
saying to give it much thought. She felt dismissed for some
reason.
    “ Yes. I saw that.” His
laughter made her think he didn’t do it often, and she took another
step from Agon. Whoever this man was he was making fun of her, and
she didn’t much care for that either.
    “ He asked you a question.
What are you doing here?” He raised a brow at her, and she felt
embarrassed. Stiffening her spine, she glared at him. “I have had
more people in and out of my life in the past few days than I have
in years. I want you to get out. Both of you. I don’t want anyone
around me. Ever. And as for teaching you how to kiss? You’re pretty
good, but I don’t want you to touch me again. I’ve things to
do.”
    “ I am not going to leave
you.” Agon took a step toward her, and she backed up. “You must not
be afraid of me. I will never…I will never harm you.”
    “ So you keep telling me.”
She looked at the other man. “Who are you and what are you doing in
my shop? For that matter, how the hell did you get in
here?”
    “ I appeared.” She shook
her head, trying to clear out some more of the sexual haze she’d
been in when the man sat. “You are much stronger than I first
thought. I do believe you will be good for My Agon. He needs
you.”
    “ But I don’t need him.”
She moved to the door and opened it. “It’s time for you both to get
out of here. I’ve work to do and you are keeping me from it.” The
man stood up and moved toward the door. He looked back at Agon, who
looked as if he wanted to argue, but he moved toward the door as
well. Judith had no idea why she thought so, but she knew that the
man was somehow boss to Agon. When they were both out the door, she
locked it again and stood leaning against it. Judith was in so much
trouble that she wanted to sit in the corner and cry.
    ~~~
    “ I believe you were told
to stay away from her.” Agon nodded but said nothing. The fact that
she was alone was all he could think about, and he wanted to
explore more of what she’d shown him in her shop. “Agon, are you
listening to me?”
    “ Yes, my Lord, I am.” He
sat down in the chair across from His desk and looked at his boss.
The man had been…He’d been forever, and His rules and laws had been
something that Agon and the others had followed their entire lives.
And now all Agon could think about was defying Him.
    “ Well, it did not look as
if you were doing that when I saw you just now.” Agon flushed, and
his face heated up from what he’d been doing to Judith when Boss
had spoken. “What do you have to say for yourself?”
    “ I simply wanted a kiss.”
Boss leaned back in His chair but said nothing. “She does not taste
like I had thought a woman would. I thought…I have no idea what I
thought, but she tastes like you might have used her taste to
create some of the wondrous things here. And the glorious way her
body fit to mine made me want to toss her upon her table and take
her.”
    “ You did not look as if
you were taking a simple taste, Agon. You looked as if you were
just short of taking her against the table, as you have said. She
is your charge and you have said many times, I might add, that you
have no desire to have her.” Boss laughed and Agon felt
