the first and only time he would ever be with a woman.
She lifted her hips up to him, begging him with her eyes. Andreas saw that Eva wanted this as much as he did. At this moment, he was not a priest and not even a healer, but a man. A man who had never known the intimate touch of a woman and now had a taste of her and never wanted to forget. Like a man who had been dying of thirst, and who had finally found a freshwater spring, he wanted to indulge himself but he didn’t want to drown.
He lifted her hips and the tip of him touched her, on the verge of entry. He looked at her once more, and she smiled. ‘Please.’
Slowly, very slowly, he pressed into her, a little at a time. He’d never imagined it would feel this extraordinary. She was soft yet clenching him tightly and it felt like he was sinking into paradise. She moaned and he almost came at once, but he contained himself, knowing he must see to her pleasure first.
He increased the pressure and pushed a little further, but met some resistance. He could smell her sweat and innocence and was uncertain whether to continue, but then she lifted her hips to meet him, and that was all the encouragement he needed. He arched his back and with one strong but gentle push, he broke through her and entered her completely, embedded in her to the hilt.
Eva breathed deeply, and so did Andreas. He so desperately wanted to move, but was afraid of hurting her, so he waited. And then, as if guided by some magical force, she began to move and he moved with her. Soon they were in unison, his thrusts matching hers. In all his years of masturbating and imagining, he had never dreamed it would be this passionate or fulfilling, as he filled her gently but completely, over and over. He wanted to find fulfilment, but was determined to wait. It was excruciating, the pleasure-pain he was feeling.
Beneath him, she gasped. He could feel a change inside her, an indescribable tightening and throbbing to match his own. He kept up his slow assault, until he thought he would explode. He looked into Eva’s eyes, seeking a cue or a hint as to whether she was ready. When their eyes met, beneath the misty passion, he saw trust and friendship. She was ready to go wherever he would take her. He increased the pace ever so slightly as she raised her hips to meet his with every movement. They were like two dancers, their bodies, their tongues perfectly in time to the music. Andreas could still taste her sex in his mouth and as their tongues mated, he pushed harder and faster, now ramming into her, desperate for her completion.
    And then Eva moaned.
Instead of urging her to stifle her response, he encouraged it. ‘Louder.’ He knew that if she was ever to vanquish this demon, she would have to be strong.
Again she moaned and, this time, shouted his name – and now his voice joined hers. ‘You are pure. You are innocent. You are clean. You are beautiful.’
With each ramming thrust, he shouted another endearment and declaration of her innocence. Eva wrapped her legs around his waist and arched off the bed, then, with a loud shout that almost turned into a cry, she exploded. And as Andreas felt her come apart beneath him, he stilled himself, embedded inside her.
The black mist that, for the last three weeks, had been inside Eva now rose to the surface. And miraculously, instead of enveloping her as before, it kept rising, moving out of her body and off the bed. Finally, it disappeared through the crack underneath the door.
Andreas looked at Eva and she nodded. It was over. The demon had been exorcised. Relief washed over him, but his erection was still deep inside her. It killed him to do this, but Andreas slowly, reluctantly, began to remove himself from her body, knowing his job was done.
Eva gasped in pleasure and it took all his willpower not to ram into her again and make her his for this brief moment. He could not do it. He had his vows and his duty to her. But
