Echoes of a Shattered Age
ability to summon lesser, yet incredibly powerful demons in large numbers, but is also formidable themselves. I think you both will have more than your hands full in dealing with this. You’re going to need help. You have gifts given from the Gods, but this is beyond what you two could handle on your own.”
“So who could possibly be helpin’ us?” Kenyatta asked, his tone darkening.
His sister looked at him and laughed. “You two are special.” As she made the statement she glanced at Kita, who blushed. “But you are not the only ones with gifts. There are others who have similar talents. The only chance you have against what is coming is to align yourselves with people who have similar gifts as your own. You have some time before the fun starts.” Her full lips curved into a smile. “Despite the power of the one who is summoning these fiends, it is going to take some time for it to fully control the things, much less a horde of other lesser dark ones.”
Kita seemed to snap out of the trance he was in, staring at Taliah, and looked excited and concerned at the same time. “Sounds like fun, but how are we supposed to find these other people?”
“I can help you with that,” Taliah replied. “Give me a little time to connect with someone who helps me from time to time. She has been my guide, and it was on her advice that I was sent to Ghana as a child. I will find answers for you.”
“Sounds good to me,” Ken and Kita answered in unison.
Taliah smirked at them. “Just like brothers,” she muttered.
The sun was sinking below the western sea when Taliah came back with the news that she had indeed connected with her guide, who agreed to help her in finding the others who could aid the two friends in their journey.
“Ya know, der is one ting that was not mentioned about all of this,” Kenyatta said. “I mean, I know huntin’ demons is just a barrel of fun and all, but I’m not sure that me wan step out on a journey pickin’ a fight with some of the most powerful evil in the dark world.”
Taliah chuckled. “So what you are saying is that when the job is done and Kita has fought and come back, you will be content having sat back and done nothing?” She paused and looked at Kita who smirked at his friend. “That is what you’re saying, right?”
“You know better than that,” Kenyatta replied with a snort.
“You know you want this as much as I do, Ken,” Kita taunted. “Quit cryin’ and listen.” Kenyatta stiffened, but let it go when he saw the devious smile on his friend’s face.
“I’ve been given the general area where you can find the others,” Taliah went on. “It should be within about ten miles of where they are currently located, but it should not take you long to find them. There are two of them, and they live in the hills at the base of Mount Yamanake in Japan. I was also told that one of them is an experienced demon hunter, and that her role in this will be crucial.”
“Still sounds like a small number of people, considering what we’re up against,” Kita remarked.
Taliah raised an eyebrow. “Perhaps there are others, perhaps not, but this was all I was given.” Her face brightened. “There is one last thing. Your weapons will need to be charged with Daunyanic power. Normal weapons from this world will do no more than irritate the lowest of demons, but with the essence of the Daunyans, you can send them back to their own realm. Your weapons will be infinitely stronger than they are now once I have charged them.”
“Well, what about the two in Japan? How are they supposed to fight demons without this charge?” Kita asked.
“And what is Daunyanic power and what are Daunyans?” Kenyatta added.
“Worry about yourselves,” Taliah answered, avoiding Kenyatta’s question. “Trust me when I say that they also have resources.”
Kita shrugged. “As you say. So should we get our weapons then?”
“No, but when it’s time, I will find you.” Kita and
