why not seize the moment?”
I sighed and flushed. “I’m not that type of girl alright.” I felt the heat rise to my cheeks. Dear god, please, not now. I knew I was getting red marks all over my face, just like always, when I was feeling uncomfortable.
She took anoth er drag. “You’re blushing,” she said, blowing out the smoke. “What? You don’t like a hot topic?”
I started unpacking my bag, trying to avoid her perpetual gaze. “ I’m not really used to it. That’s all.”
“Hmm, well I just can’t get enough. Rock hard abs, tight chest, bulging taut muscles, a v-line and then what’s underneath …” she made a noise that sounded like a combination of growling and moaning at the same time.
By that time I didn’t have anything left to unpack and was forced to face her again, red spots covering my entire neck. My eyes widened and I kept my mouth shut, not knowing how to respond.
Her mouth dropped open. “Oh my god, don’t tell me you’ve never seen a guy naked before.”
I rolled my eyes. “I haven’t alright, what’s the big deal?”
“So you’ve never actually … had ‘sex’ either?” She made quotation marks with her fingers.
    I sighed. “Does it matter?”
She stood up and sat down next to me, her awful, burned tobacco smell spreading to my side of the room and onto my sheets. “Emily, you’re serious, aren’t you? Have you even kissed a guy?”
Staring at the floor, I twiddled with my fingers.
She nudged me with her shoulder. “Come on. We’re roomies now. You can tell me. I promise I won’t spill your secrets.”
I shrugged. “Once, maybe twice. I don’t remember. I’m just too shy, I guess.” Actually, that was a lie. I wasn’t shy. My parents just didn’t allow it. Not anything.
She put her arm around my shoulder and heaved a sigh. “It’s been a long time, but I’m ready to take on a new one. Girl, you’ve just been promoted to my new watch-and-learn list. I’m going to help you become a woman.” She took my hand and pulled me up from the bed. “Oh, I just love a new project!” She shrieked in excitement.
“Whoa, Becky, I’m not sure if I want to be—”
“Of course you do! You’re a college girl now, gotta live the life you know. First, let’s check your wardrobe.”
She twirled me around and eyed me from top to bottom. When she was finished, I could barely stand up straight, my head dizzy. Then I noticed someone else had entered our room.
“Ryan!” she yelped and ran over to him, throwing herself into his arms, almost smothering him with a hug.
“Emily, meet Ryan. He’s from across the hall. I think he’s bunking with your friend.”
“Oh, so Kevin’s your guy, huh?” Ryan said and he shook my hand. He winked, his blue, hooded eyes gazing into mine, while he ran a few fingers through his beach-blond hair.
“No, no, we’re not dating,” I said, my voice changing in pitch. “He’s a friend.”
“Ah … so Emily, settling in already?”
I flushed. “Yeah, doing great. Becky here was just telling me the ins and outs of the dorm.”
“Oh,” Ryan smiled slyly at me. “Has she told you yet we throw parties every other week?”
Becky clenched her hands smiled broadly. “Oh my god, that’s right! We’ve got a party tonight!” She pulled my arm and shook her head repeatedly. “You should come. Definitely.”
“I don’t know, Becky,” I said, backing off.
“Yeah, great idea, Becks,” Ryan said. “It’s a venetian themed party. Very stylish and this one isn’t organized often, so you’re out of luck if you’re not there.”
    “I can’t really—”
“Oh come on, Emily, it’ll be fun. Live a little.”
“ I think you should come too. Hey, you know what, if you do, I promise I’ll dance with you,” Ryan said.
“Oh, Ryan. You’re such a tease,” Becky said and then came closer to me. “I’d take him up on his offer if I were you ,” she whispered into my ear. “He’s a definite hottie and there
