bringing forth his own. He groans loudly,
"Oh, Liv," as he thrusts higher into me. I feel him go still and I
collapse onto his chest listening to his racing heart.
"Fuck," He says in almost amazement.
I smile into his chest. Yes, I am that good. Or rather, I'd
say we are that good together.
"Fuck,” He says again quieter. "That was...
fuck," apparently lost for words. Always a good sign.
"Amazing?" I offer up, "Perfect? Unbelievably
mind-shattering?"
"All of the above," he states. "I've never,
ever felt that way before," he confesses, although he is clearly no
stranger to the sack.
Because you've never been with me, a Vampire, before, I want
desperately to say but bite my tongue.
"Me either," I say instead. Rather familiar with
the sack myself, this is not entirely true, but not quite a lie either. It was
amazing as far as Vampire/human sex goes. Imagine what it would be like if I
turned him? Brushing that interesting but totally out of the question thought
aside, I roll off him. Snuggling into his side with my arm draped over his
chest. Not a snuggly sleeper by any stretch of the imagination, this catches me
by surprise. Usually I would be thinking up excuses for him to leave. Realizing
I don't want him to leave unnerves me. Glancing at the clock, 1:00 glares back
at me.
"Will you stay?" I ask tentatively, surprised even
more with myself.
"Yes," he answers immediately and I relax a
little. Tracing circles on his chest with my nail, we lie in a companionable
silence. I don't sleep much. The older we get the less sleep we need. I get by
on three hours or less a night. He fingers my bracelet, twirling each charm in
turn but not really noticing them.
A thought occurs to me and I ask, “Are you thirsty?”
    He laughs, “Very.”
    “Water or wine?”
    “Both please. In that order.”
“Done.” I leap out of bed reaching for my robe. I wouldn’t
normally bother, having no problems with nudity, especially my own, but it may
raise questions when I do finally tell him about Devon.
“Be right back,” I tell him, “don’t move.” I give him a
light kiss.
“I couldn’t even if I wanted to,” he murmurs with a glint in
his eye.
Smiling to myself all the way down to the bar I find myself
again surprised at how he makes me feel. The last human who made my blood boil
at this level and made me giggle was Fraser. That unwelcomed thought jolts me
back to my surroundings. Pushing it aside I collect two glasses and a bottle of
chilled Sauvignon Blanc and place it on a tray with two bottles of water.
I feel a tingle on the back of my neck. Devon.
“What, you haven’t kicked him out yet?” comes a surprised
question from the darkness of the terrace. “This is... new.” He saunters in
glistening wet from a midnight swim.
I cast an appreciative glance over his hot, wet body. “He’s
staying,” I reply shortly.
Devon raises an eyebrow at me but has the good sense not to
comment.
“I need to get back upstairs,” I say, picking up the tray.
“Okay, Kitten,” he half teases me, giving me a quick kiss on
the forehead. “Goodnight.”
    “Goodnight, Devon.”
He knows something is different, that something has changed
in me. A few hours ago I would have kicked my lover out and before the door
even hit his arse on the way out, I would have been ripping at him on the
floor, while we fucked until dawn. I feel his eyes on me as I walk upstairs.
“You’re going to tell him aren’t you?” he asks softly and I
turn around. “You cannot tell him,” he says as I say nothing.
    “I haven’t thought about it,” I say.
“Liv, sweetie, I know you, you have but you can’t. You’ve
known him five minutes. You don’t know how he will react. Just don’t.” He looks
at me helplessly.
“I think I love him, Dev.”
“You barely know him and you know Constantine will freak,
which means The Council will freak. Hell, Cole will freak! It's not so easy
now,” he falters.
    “I haven’t decided yet,” I insist.
