possessed by one so rich. Not having much choice, she selected a black velvet cloak lined with gold silk.
“That will go well with the black gown I chose for you.”
Garnet whirled around at the sound of her mate’s deep voice. He held an elaborate jeweled headdress. “I thought this might make up for the loss of your hair,” he said, a smile on his sensual lips.
“Oh, Master, I love it.” The headdress was gorgeous—exquisitely crafted of gold filigree studded with sparkling diamonds, rubies and emeralds. Then she sobered. “You shouldn’t have bought it, though, when you know your business soon may begin to suffer.”
Romulus set down the exquisite piece and bent to kiss her naked scalp. “I love the way it looks on you. When we come back I want you to wear it while you suck my cock. Now we need to hurry, for it won’t do to keep a crown prince waiting.”
As though he were her servant, Romulus draped her in the jewels he’d provided—nipple shields, an elaborate navel ring and a diamond-encrusted hoop he dangled from her clit piercing. He adjusted the headdress on her head and inserted a large diamond stud in the piercing in her nostril. She loved the jewels. But she loved more the fact that Romulus said he loved her .
The stones winked merrily from settings of glittering gold, plainly visible through the black silk that covered her head to toe but was so sheer that each jewel shone through. Garnet fingered the delicate ornaments that dangled from the gold cap that hugged her scalp and wondered why the proof of her mate’s great wealth didn’t excite her the way she’d thought it would.
As for her hair, she didn’t miss it. She found the feel of her mate’s hands and mouth on her crown and around her hairline incredibly arousing. More erotic than the heady sensation of wet heat and the rasp of the razor she could anticipate experiencing every day for the rest of her life at the hands of Romulus or one of their house slaves.
“When we are alone again, I intend to taste every inch of flesh those jewels hide.” Romulus’ red-gold eyes glowed hot with lust as he draped a heavy black cloak over his golden, naked body. His cock jutted out, its understated ornaments calling attention to the burnished gold of his flesh, the size and weight of his jeweled sac. “Now we must go if we are to reach the royal palace in time for our audience.”
Before her mating, Garnet had anticipated riding along the Street of Pleasure in Romulus’ distinctive gold-trimmed ground transporter, basking in the envy of everyone who saw her. Today, though, she found her pleasure coming more from the press of his muscular thigh against her barely covered leg, the warmth of his fingers caressing the bare skin between her jeweled collar and her headdress. Hot with anticipation for yet another mating, she laid open his cloak, reached between his legs and stroked his smooth, deliciously firm sex as they approached the entrance to the royal palace.
“Not now.” Romulus took her hand and moved it to his thigh, none too gently. “I need to keep my wits about me, and I can’t think when you touch me that way.”
Yes. He did need to concentrate on the business at hand, as did Garnet. It hadn’t been easy, persuading Emerald to include them on the list of petitioners Prince Arik would see today. They would have to use all their powers of persuasion if they were to succeed in getting Arik to lift his edict and ensure the continued success of Romulus’ business.

Unlike many petitioners, Romulus refused to cower before the prince, whose black leather eye patch accentuated a deep scar that ran from his hairline to the spot on his neck where it disappeared into a soft velvet shirt. While Garnet prostrated herself before Prince Arik, her jeweled headdress glittering in the sunlight, Romulus bowed over the soft, small hand of Princess Emerald.
“I assume you’re here to argue against the decree I circulated
