Re: Fired
Dear Ms. Craven,
I don’t take well to
insubordination, especially before the person has even started
work. Feel free to complain to HR, but you’re fired. Have a nice
life cleaning rooms.

“ Oh, hell no.” Holly sat up
infuriated. “There is no way that that little twerp is firing me
before I even start.” She grabbed the phone and was about to email
him back when she got another email from him.

Re: Fired
Dear Ms. Craven,
I’m sure my last email made
your heart jump. I’d be very careful from here-on out. I expect to
see you at 6 am tomorrow, rain or shine.

Holly sagged back into the
sheets, grateful that she hadn’t lost her job but annoyed that he
had thought that was a funny joke. “Be real.” She muttered to
herself. “He didn’t think it was funny. I bet he just pretended it
was a joke because he has so much work he needs me to do tomorrow.
Ass.” She closed her eyes, and before she knew it, Holly was
dreaming of Don Juan and his lips all over her body.

“ Frigging 6am.” Holly
muttered as she made her way to the office. She had about 5 minutes
to park and walk into the building, or she would be late. She
hadn’t even had time to get a cup of coffee, and she knew her
clothes looked rather drab. It was the only suit she could find
that didn’t need ironing. She should have checked the evening
before, but she had forgotten. She glanced at her watch as she
parked. She had two minutes left, so she grabbed her bag and ran
into the office as quickly as possible. The doorman smiled at her
and opened the door, and she thanked him gratefully as she huffed
and puffed.
“ Hi,” she was surprised to
see a receptionist already sitting at a desk, working. “I’m here
for my first day.”
“ Hi,” the girl smiled at
her. “What’s your name?”
“ Holly,” she gave the girl
a smile. “Like Molly but with an H, or folly, or jolly, though I’m
not too jolly right now. Do you always have to get into work this
early?”
The girl looked at her with
a patient expression and nodded. “Mr. Giovanni is upstairs waiting
for you with 2 other top executives. He said to send you right
up.”
“ Two other executives?”
Holly gasped. “Are you joking? I need a cup of coffee and a
doughnut, not to be put to work right away.”
“ I suppose that’s because
you don’t enjoy working much, Ms. Craven.” She heard the familiar
deep voice behind her and froze. Oh shit.
Oh shit . She thought to herself as she
turned around slowly. She wanted to run out of the building and
scream, but her legs wouldn’t move.
“ I love working Mr.
Giovanni.” Her voice was snide as she looked up at him, and he
froze as he saw her face and they made eye contact.
“ This has got to be a
joke.” He stared at her and ran his fingers through his hair.
“Please tell me you are not Holly Craven.”
“ If you tell me you’re not
Spencer Giovanni.” She stared at his tailored Italian suit and too
handsome face and sighed. Of course he would be her new boss. It
only made sense that the man she had a one-night stand and then
cursed out would be her new boss. A boss she already disliked. A
boss she had come to work for with one purpose in mind. Could her
life get any worse? “Well, I’m leaving.” She spun around and walked
quickly to the front entrance. She couldn’t go through with this
any longer. It was all too crazy. She walked a little too quickly
and her heel caught in something and she went flying to the
ground.
Spencer ran up to her and
helped her up. His eyes mocked her as he pulled her up, and she
stumbled into his arms for a brief second, enjoying the warmth of
his body, before pulling away quickly. “Get your hands off of me.”
She hissed. He let go of her quickly and gave her a
