saying,” Keya complained.
I could have seconded that statement but I didn’t want to hurt my cousin’s feelings so I kept my trap shut.
I was sitting with my hands under the drying fan finishing up drying my nails when the very last person I wanted to see walked through the door. I knew this confrontation was coming but I was hoping for later rather than sooner.
“Let me holler at you a minute,” Von said. I couldn’t read what was on his mind from his facial expression, so I frowned up my face at him and didn’t budge from my seat. For all I knew he just wanted to take me outside to issue the beat down of a lifetime he promised me. When he saw that I had no intention of getting up he added, “I just want to talk ma. I wouldn’t put my hands on a female.”
“ You could have fooled me,” I replied dryly, “with all those threats you texted me and left on my voicemail. That was very childish of you clogging up my phone like that.”
“ I was angry Angel,” he sighed, like he was exhausted, rubbing his fingers against his temple.
    “ And you aren’t now?”
“ I still am, but I can control myself,” he replied with a sad smile.
“ You’re good Angel,” Keya asked. That was her way of asking if I needed backup.
“ Nah girl I’m good,” I reassured her as I followed Von outside.
“ You’re with that Nigga Tyga now?” he asked.
“ Why’re you asking a question you already know the answer to?” I asked back, exasperated.
“ I wanted to hear it from your mouth Angel,” he said heatedly. “I’m not like you going off what other people say without getting the full story from the source.”
    “ Yeah we’re together,” I admitted.
His hands were balled up in tight fists and he was looking like I was breaking his heart and he wanted to strangle me. I didn’t know what he expected. I told him things were over between us, it’s not like he didn’t know. I didn’t want to hurt his feelings because at one point I really cared for him and got myself hurt so I knew how it felt to be in his position but it was time to face the facts.
“ You know he only wants to fuck you right?” he spat angrily. “That nigga be fucking with a different chick every week. You’re just on a list of many.”
“ I’m a big girl Jayvon I can take care of myself.” I really didn’t want to argue with him. This shit was getting old.
“ Just remember that you left me for a nigga that’s going to break your heart. We had something great and you threw it away because you wanted to run the streets and act a trick like that cousin of yours. I ain’t sweating you anymore Angel,” he said in a low angry growl before he walked away. I could have sworn his eyes were shiny. I was a bit sad that things had to end the way they did, but I was also happy that I finally had that chapter closed.
“ You’re good girl?” Daisy asked when I walked back into the shop. My facial expression must have shown that I was a little down.
“ Yeah, I’m cool,” I said. “I finally ashed things out with Von and he said he won’t blow up my phone anymore.”
“ About time,” she teased. “I was starting to think you were that dude’s obsession. With all those voice and text messages I thought his next move was going to be a kidnapping.”
I had to laugh because home girl knew how to cheer me up. It was one of the benefits of knowing someone your entire life.
“ I love you bitch,” I said with a smile.
“ I love you too hoe,” she replied, wrapping her arms around me in a sisterly hug. My ringing phone interrupted our little bonding moment.
    It was Tyga.
“ Hey Bay,” I sang, smiling from ear to ear like a damn fool.
“ Hey Sexy,” he said with a smile in his voice. He was always calling me that. “You still at the hair shop?”
“ Yeah,” I answered. “Let me find out you’re checking up on a sister.”
“ Bring that little sexy ass of yours outside,” he said, hanging up.
    “ What did your boo
