by her boss she couldn’t lie worth a damn because she showed every emotion on her face. She lowered her eyelids when her cheeks heated and shook her head slightly.
“Ah, baby, don’t be embarrassed. You have no idea how happy that makes me, and I know that is a hypocritical statement, but I don’t care. I love the fact you haven’t had a man. So will you, Brooke?” Coulter asked, cupping her face with his hand.
She stared into those heated eyes and fell into those blue pools. She wanted him and his brothers more than she had ever wanted anything in her life. She just hoped she wasn’t setting herself up for heartbreak. But she wanted, no, needed to experience what it would be like to have the three Thornell brothers make love with her. She knew it was probably just about sex to them, but she didn’t want to pass up an opportunity to experience their touch. She’d come to care for them over the previous week, and the feelings deepened every single day. She wasn’t sure if she loved them, although she knew as time went by her feelings would definitely intensify, but she wanted to have memories to take with her when she left.
Coulter was watching her attentively and waiting for her answer. She sighed and answered, knowing her life would be changed forever more.
“Yes, I want that very much,” Brooke replied breathlessly.
“You won’t regret it, baby,” Coulter replied and rose to his feet, taking her with him.
Brooke clung to Coulter, her arms around his neck, and leaned her head on his shoulder. He carried her from the stables and out into the winter sunshine. She didn’t protest at being carried. She savored the experience of still being in his arms. He walked up the steps to the house and into the kitchen. She was surprised he didn’t carry her straight to the bedroom.
Martha looked up and smiled at them both and reached for the coffeepot. She placed mugs on the table and went back to the kitchen counter without saying a word. Brooke wondered what the woman thought of her son carrying her around, but it didn’t seem to faze the older woman at all.
Coulter placed her on a chair and took the one beside her. He reached for his mug of coffee and took a sip.
“Baby, do you know what’s involved in having three men make love with you at the same time?”
“Coulter!” Brooke whispered with embarrassed exasperation. “Your mother is in the same room, for God’s sake.”
“Brooke, our mom knows we want you. She knew from the first day.”
“That doesn’t matter. I don’t like talking about this with an audience. Can’t we go someplace else?”
“Okay. Sorry, baby, I didn’t mean to embarrass you. Let me go find Trace and Corbin and we can meet in the office. Come on and I’ll show you where it is,” Coulter replied, holding his hand out to her.
Brooke took his hand and her coffee and followed him. He took her into the study and helped her sit on the large sofa along one wall. For a brief moment, he contemplated calling for his brothers psychically. But this wasn’t an emergency, no matter how thrilled he was. Instead, he pulled his cell phone out and sent a text.
“Trace and Corbin will be here in a few minutes. I’d like to wait for them to be in on this discussion, so while we’re waiting why don’t you tell me a little about your boss, Neville?” Coulter suggested.
Brooke choked on her coffee and sputtered at the sudden shift in the conversation. She took a deep breath and swallowed, trying to rid herself of the lingering effects of her arousal.
“How do you know my boss’s name?”
“Janie told us who you were. There wasn’t a missing person’s report lodged for you, baby. We wanted to know why the hell your boss didn’t call the police, so we did a search on you.”
“Hmm, okay. Neville is a real estate agent. His wife died two years ago, and even he has admitted ever since her death, he has trouble with his memory. I think he is a sad, lonely man, and if he
