somewhere? For my own peace of mind, can you just cooperate with me on this, babe?”
“Fine,” she says, putting her hands up in mock surrender. “I’ll be sure to check in with you before I do anything from now on. Shit.”
I know she’s being sarcastic, but I can’t help but feel better when I hear her agree. I trust Callie like no one else, but we’ve both been in the company of some fucked up people. The thought that she could come across any of them and they might feel slighted isn’t one that I like. Especially after getting that text from my father. I don’t know what the fuck he’s up to, but I don’t trust him.
“Hey,” I whisper, moving her chin so that her eyes are on mine again. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” she sighs, returning my kiss. “I’m gonna go pee now. That alright with you?”
“Don’t be an ass,” I warn, smirking at her playful expression.
Following her into the bathroom, I twist the knobs on in the shower and step inside. I glance through the space between the curtain and the tile and see her climbing onto the bathroom counter, folding her legs into the sink and looking over her complexion.
“What do you want to do today?” I call out.
“I don’t know,” she shrugs, fixing her smudged lipstick before twisting around and leaning against the wall behind her, watching me reach for the body wash. “What do you want to do?”
“You hungry?” I ask her, pulling the shower curtain open slightly to give her a better view.
“Hmm, thanks baby,” she hums appreciatively as her eyes stay locked on my body. “Yeah, I could eat.”
“Okay,” I start shutting the water off and pulling the curtain open, taking the towel from the rack. “Let’s go get some food and see a movie or something.”
“Cool,” she says, keeping her eyes on me as I dry off and make my way to the sink.
Sliding down so I can brush my teeth, she moves behind me and I feel her fingers lightly tracing the ink that covers my skin. I glance into the mirror to take in her expression as she concentrates on the dips and curves in each letter of my last name, splayed across my shoulders. With as much hatred as I have for my father, as much pain as that tattoo, that name has brought me, I should have it removed, but I won’t.
It’s a reminder of who I was, the person I never want to be again and the burden of it that still weighs heavy on my shoulders.
“Savage,” she whispers, her voice almost silent as she traces the final letter with her fingertip.
I watch her in the reflection of the mirror as she softly presses her lips to the ink, sending a slight chill through my veins. As she pulls away, she smirks at the lipstick print she left behind on my skin before meeting my eyes.
“I could just eat you up, Tommy,” she rasps, her eyes dancing over my reflection as her voice frees me. She wraps her arms around my waist, lightly skimming my abs with her fingertips and letting out a low hum as she holds my eyes. “What movie you wanna see, babe?”
“I don’t know,” I say quietly, turning to give her a chaste kiss in thanks for pulling me out of my dark thoughts like she always does. “You?”
“I don’t care,” she admits, following me down the hallway to my room and plopping down against my black bedding. “Why don’t we ever sleep in here?”
Looking around the practically bare bedroom, I watch her pick up the magazine I threw on my nightstand a month ago and forgot about.
“I don’t know,” I shrug. “We can whenever you want. I just thought you were more comfortable in your room.”
“Doesn’t matter to me,” she says, thumbing through the pages before pausing to look at me. “Wait, how many girls have you fucked in here?”
“I don’t know,” I tell her honestly, pulling a T-shirt on over my head and sitting on the edge of the bed beside her. “A few, I guess. I didn’t like bringing them over here, so not many.”
    “That tells me nothing,” she
