peppered her with compliments she found offensive, she never stood her ground. Even worse, she’d let them corner her until she agreed to take the number she’d never call. For the first time in the game of creepy man versus insecure woman, she stood up for herself. Damn, it felt good.
As she watched the bartender shake her martini, a man’s arm suddenly reached around her. She tensed, readying herself for another verbal insult. It was unnecessary because he ended up reaching for the peanuts sitting in front of her. Taking fingers full, she noted his immaculate manicure and spicy cologne. Destini stilled before she fell off the barstool. His scent was intoxicating.
Luckily he didn’t steal and make a quick getaway. He leaned in and smiled. “You’re new,” he stated. His skin was a buttery brown, and his long dark hair, shiny and thick, fell to the sides of his face from a center part. He was really close, his tie brushing the curve of her shoulder. And he didn’t wear a mask.
“And you? First time?” she asked, taking the martini the bartender set in front of her. She immediately took a sip. For some reason the guy’s arrival made her suddenly thirsty.
“I’m the owner. Name is Nero.”
Her smile deflated. Why did that sound so familiar? And then it came to her. Of all the guys in the place on her one night of ‘freakdom’, it would be her luck that the first man she was mildly attracted to was Naiya’s guy. She turned back to her drink, unable to disguise her disappointment. “Nice place.”
“You know the rules?” he asked, taking the seat to her right.
“Ah… rules?” she faltered, feeling his heated stare on her.
    “Yes, sexy… the rules.”
Destini pressed her thighs together. His compliment affected her more than she cared to admit. “No, I uhm––”
“It’s okay.” He slipped his fingers into her hair and moved her locks from her shoulder. She supposed it was his attempt at putting her at ease. “There are only two.”
Destini shifted nervously in her seat. His hand lingered and then grazed her shoulder before drawing away. She looked past him. Was everyone staring at her? What tipped them off? And why did she feel like a rabbit in a wolf’s den? It was as if she had a flashing neon sign above her head: First Timer. “I think––”
“Rule one. What happens in Ajani stays in Ajani. You’re safe here with us, Cherry, but this is Leather Straps Love, and things... well things can get interesting quick.” A deep chuckle bubbled up through his throat.
Cherry? That’s what the hostess called her. Now she began to get the meaning. Destini cut him a sideways look. “The name is Rain.”
“Right.” He nodded, but mocked her with his smile. “Rain.”
“And rule number two,” she pressed, trying to play it cool.
He licked his lips. “All beautiful ladies come by me first,” he said, leaning in and speaking into her ear. “I can make you feel the strap warm and tender.”
Destini picked up her purse. “Where’s… the ladies room?”
His eyes went low, and then made the short climb to her breasts. Due to the close proximity of the bar seats, she stood between his legs. The fine threads of his tailored suit fit him nicely. He smelled so good, her mouth actually watered. Jeez, Naiya, how could you even go there with this dude and keep your sanity? He had that kind of raw sex appeal that made a girl manic and very attention-needy. Hell, even she was melting.
He dropped his hand to the seat behind her, blocking her pass. “ Le deseo ,” he said in a low voice that came from somewhere deep and moved off his lips like silk. He eased in closer, and she could swear he was inhaling her scent.
Despite his wanting her, Destini bristled. “Back off, baby, before I punish you, which is what you really want. Es verdad ?”
He chuckled and nodded. “ Es verdad , sexy… muy verdad ,” he sucked in a breath through his even, white teeth.
Destini picked up his arm and
