baby.”
    Dominique
    exploded
    around
    him,
    screaming out his name.
Her climax triggered his release. “Fuck!
Baby,” he shouted, then spilled his seed inside
    of her.
They breathed heavily and in unison for a
few seconds before Brandon laid his forehead
on hers. “I guess we’ll be taking that shower
    together after all,” he said.
    “Looks that way.”
Brandon released her for a moment to
turn on the shower. Then he picked Dominique
up and walked with her to the shower stall.
They took turns washing each other.
Brandon was especially gentle and mindful of
the soreness between Dominique’s legs. She
wasn’t complaining but still, it had to hurt.

It was an hour before they finished
showering and dressing and got a start on
    breakfast.
    Dominique was sitting cross-legged on
the bed in one of Brandon’s t-shirts eating her
croissant, when Brandon decided to inform her
that her parents were looking for her.
“Uh, Dominique, I think you should
    check in with your folks.”
Dominique gave him a panicked look.
    “Why? What’s wrong?”
    Brandon cursed his insensitivity. Since
Dominique’s father had had his heart attack,
    Dominique assumed that every family
summons constituted an emergency. He tried
to reassure her. “Various members of your
family went to your room looking for you, and
you weren’t there. They called your cell phone
as well. They just want to touch base is all.”
“I told Mom and Dad I was going out and
would probably be staying over with some
friends. Shit! I told them to call my cell if they
needed me. Where’s my cell? What time is it?”
Her eyes narrowed, “And just how do you know
my parents are looking for me?”
Brandon looked at the wristwatch he’d
put on after his shower. “It is now 1:15 p.m. and
    Through the Fire

I know your family is looking for you because
Sinjin left me a message on my cell phone. I
checked it before I joined you in the shower.”
“You ass! You knew that my family was
looking for me and you’re just now deciding to
tell me? What’s the matter with you, Brandon?
They’re probably worried sick about me. I need
    my purse.”
“I kind of had my hands full, sweetheart,”
    he smirked.
She jumped up from the bed, found her
clutch bag half buried under the clothes she’d
worn last night, and snatched up her cell
phone. She didn’t bother dialing her voicemail.
    She called her mom directly.
Brandon sat on the bed in his boxers
watching as Dominique paced back and forth,
evidently waiting for whomever she was calling
to pick up. Brandon got up from the bed,
walked over to Dominique, and wrapped his
arms around her waist, pulling her back against
him. She tried to struggle, but he held her tight
    against him.
    “Hello, Mom?”
Olivia’s voice filled the room. She was in
full fit mode, Brandon observed gloomily.

“Dominique, where are you? We’ve been out of
    our minds with worry.”
“I told you guys that I would be out.
    What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong. When you said you’d
be out, I didn’t think it would be overnight, and
then when we couldn’t reach you on your cell
phone like you told us to…Anyway are you
okay? Xavier and Chad are about to send out a
    search party.”
Brandon tensed. That was not how he
wanted his brothers-in-law to find out about
his marriage to Dominique. He could hear their
conversation from his position on the bed. Ms.
    Olivia was in a tizzy.
    Dominique motioned to Brandon that
everything was under control. “I’m fine, Mom.”
    “Diamond and Rafe arrived safely.”
Olivia’s voice came down a couple of notches.
“They called earlier. By the way, are you riding
with Daddy and me to the barbeque, or are you
driving yourself? You are still coming?”
“Oh. I’d forgotten all about the barbeque
at Domino’s. Yes, I’ll be there. Please let Xavier
and Chad know that I’m okay. No search
    parties are
