deepened. He really liked her reaction. His pants grew a little tighter in the front and he resisted the urge to adjust them.
"Does that idea frighten you?" Her eyes were clear and steady and hard to read.
"No, Sir. I don't think so. I'm fully aware what I signed on for." Her words were steady, but the slight hitch in her breath at the end gave away more than she probably wanted to.
He took three steps forward and peeled the strap of her bag from her shoulder, never taking his eyes off hers. Her breath hitched again. The little puff of air fanned across his neck and almost made him groan. He needed to get inside of her sooner rather than later. She was under his skin and he was dying to relieve the constant ache from thinking of her.
“Are you hungry?”
Rebecca shrugged. “I was too nervous to eat lunch and I’m not sure about dinner yet.”
“Well, come on in and I’ll show you around and then we’ll see about getting you fed. Not having enough energy because you skipped a meal is unacceptable.”
It was obvious she was nervous and he needed to get her over that initial fear of what would happen next. He held out his hand and she took the step forward to rest her palm on his. He closed his fingers and tugged her into his arms. With her eyes wide and her warmth close, he leaned forward and kissed her.
He groaned for a moment at the soft touch of her lips against his before quickly turning serious. He licked at the seam and coaxed her to open to him. She complied and allowed him entrance. He squeezed her hand and tried to damp down the need crawling up his spine. If nothing else, he needed to move at her pace for now.
With a quick nip of her lips that probably left behind a tiny sting, he pulled away and led her to the back of the apartment. Bedrooms are back here. Mine to the right and the extra to the left. Although the spare bedroom is no longer a bedroom.
She glanced at his and he answered before she asked. “Playroom.”
“Ahh,” she said in a husky voice.
He bit back the smile and pulled her into his room.
“Oh my God, that’s gorgeous.” She pulled free from his hand and rushed over to the floor to ceiling window wall that overlooked the western sky.
The setting sun shone through with a myriad of pink, purple and orange colors. It was pretty, but nothing compared to the woman standing at his window. The waning light clung to her curves and circled her currently tamed hair. He wanted to thrust his fingers in those locks and mess it up. He wanted to grab the strands and push her against the glass and make sure her hair never looked tame again. He wanted her wild.
As if pulled by a magnet, Mason moved forward.
“The view is the main reason I chose this apartment.” He brushed the hair from the side of her neck and placed a chaste kiss on her bared skin.
“When you said you lived in an apartment I didn’t picture anything like this. I didn’t even know places like this existed in the middle of the city. I thought most people like umm—”
He knew where she was headed with another reference to his fortune, but he wasn’t going to bail her out now.
“I mean—I thought or imagined the big corporate executives like you in one of the McMansions in the south end of town.”
He kissed her again. “The last thing I need or want is a giant empty house. The views meant more to me than the space.”
She nodded and turned away from the window. “I think my entire apartment would fit in this room alone.” She stared at the bed as she spoke leaving her looking a little mesmerized.
“It was my compromise. No 'McMansion' as you call them, but I did choose the largest unit available on the top floor.”
She laughed and some of the tension holding her rigidly upright melted away.
“C’mon, let’s eat.” He guided her from his room before he threw her on the big custom made bed and ravished her till the sun rose. Soon. Very soon.
