trying , pops, but sometimes I just want to be with her and I can’t.”
“Trust me , I know the feeling, but just listen to your old man, I won’t steer you wrong.”
“Aight pops. Thanks for the advice. Let me get outta here , I gotta meet up with the fellas and discuss this trip, so I’ll be seeing you, dad.”
“How much do you think you’re gonna need for that issue?”
“I don’t know yet , we just going down there to assess the situation, but I’ll have a good idea of what I need when we get back.”
“Ok ay, and when are you planning to go down there?”
“We ’re going for spring break. We’re not planning to move too much right now. But this summer we’ll have it flowing like a river. Once we graduate, we’ll have the time to be more hands on with the expansion.”
“ Make sure you keep me informed, son.”
Samir left his father’s house ready for spring break to arrive so they could hit the ground running with their down south expansion. He called his down south crew and let them know that he was coming within the next week. The Black Corleone s were about become continental, literally.
Running a different city in a different state was going to present challenges for the young crew , but it was a challenge they were all the more ready for, because the money was going to be more than right.
Spring Break week approached quickly and the Corleones met at Samir’s condo before sunrise for the 18 hour drive to Houston. Samir barely slept the night before because he was anxious about their impending trip. He knew they had the ability to succeed , because they had proven it to themselves over and over again, but he was still a bit nervous. Everybody in Chicago knew he had the heart of a hustler, but Houston and Louisiana was outside of his cushy life in the Chi. Being a Kendall gave him added security to reign as he pleased, but venturing into territory outside of the Kendall’s scope would prove if Samir and the Corleones were built for this, or really just succeeding because of Samir’s blood line.
“What up , Joe, you ready for this trip?” Meko asked as they entered Samir’s apartment.
“I’m as ready as I’m gon’ to be,” he responded.
“Aight then , cuz’ once we hit this road, ain’t no turning back. Is everything ready to go down there?” Meko asked.
“Yea , I spoke with my people last night, so they ready for us to get down there and set everything in motion.”
“ Is this about us as a crew or about you trying to come out of your pops shadow; cuz’ honestly, I don’t see why we gotta go down south when we good right here,” Cesar said.
The rest of the Corleo nes looked at Cesar in shock. They couldn’t believe his line of questioning.
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean , Ces? Nothing we do is about one man over the next. We voted, and as I recall, you were good with this expansion,” Seven replied.
“I know what I did , but I feel like we making a lot of quick decisions, and I’m making sure we ain’t feeding into one man’s ego.”
“ My ego? You’ve known me my whole life, and you know I’ve never been an egotistical nigga, and for you to ask me some shit like this, it don’t sit well with me, so if you got something to say, then you need to say it now, Joe,” Samir said calmly.
“I’m just making sure this is for the betterment of the family and not about Sam Corleone. Niggas been moving like we ain ’t the ones out here grinding. The Black Corleones are The Black Corleones, and not Samir and The Black Corleones. Niggas ain’t winning cuz’ of one nigga; niggas are winning cuz’ we’re a crew.”
“Cesar, you a hoe ass nigga for this shit ; we’ve always been about each other. When you put us in a fucked up situation, this nigga Sam took the responsibility for your dog ass, and stood up to the co-op, his father and his brothers behind your ass. So, to have you sitting here questioning a nigga like he ain’t always had our
