hated the idea of it.

Brandon was also excited about something else. He felt open to the possibility of finding love. He wasn’t sure from where. Would it be from his wife? Would they find a way to salvage their long dead marriage? He wasn’t sure. The only way that could possibly happen, would be if she cleaned up her act a whole lot. It was probably better to start over, but Brandon also knew about the risks of getting divorced to a vindictive woman like Jeanette. She would work around the clock to destroy everything that he built up over the last 20 years. She would work hard to take every red cent from him.

Many people think that billionaires have all of their cash sitting in a bank waiting to be spent at a moments notice. It’s not like that. If Jeanette was successful in divorcing Brandon and getting half of his wealth, he would have to dissolve everything: his whole company, and all of the assets that came with it. At the very least, he’d have to sell Boulder Corp, and he didn’t want to do that either.  Even though Brandon found Jeanette revolting on most days, he still held out hope that maybe she might change… Maybe she might become the woman that he fell in love with in the first place. Brandon wondered if she had ever been than woman.

Jeanette was counting on the fact that Brandon had a soft side. She would ruthlessly pray on it so that she could reassert her position as the Queen of Boulder manor.  She knew she’d fucked up in Fiji, and now, a day later, she was as busy as a cat on a hot roof trying to undo the damage that had been done. She immediately called the Soul Cleanse clinic  to book an appointment. She also had a public relations agent issue a statement to the press:

Jeanette Boulder is seeking to close in her relationship to God, and she hopes to set a good example for all of the women struggling with substance abuse.

Jeanette was sure to retweet the statement to Brandon, as a not-so-subtle way of sucking up to him. While Brandon was away at his press conference, Jeanette blew up his phone with calls and texts. She swore up and down that she was sorry for being irresponsible, and that she’d never do it again. She promised to be a good mother again. She would join a rehab clinic if she had to. She felt lonely. She missed the warmth of his body. She wanted to reignite their love. She missed him. She wanted his cock. She’d do whatever it took. Please, please, please.

Jeanette kept sending messages and leaving voicemails, and almost all of them were ignored. After a couple hours of doing this, she worried that perhaps Brandon wasn’t buying it this time. Had she finally gone too far? Her calls never said anything about taking it up the ass from a fucking gardner in Fiji, maybe Brandon had figured out that she was up to something more than just getting Midol. Was that it? Was her cover blown? No… Brandon didn’t know. Jeanette was uncertain of many things, she wasn’t sure how Brandon felt about her anymore, but she knew for sure that Brandon didn’t know about her infidelities. If he did, he wouldn’t have let her sleep one night in their house. Her ass would be grass.

Jeanette tried every trick in the book to try to manipulate a response from Brandon. She tried sympathy, pity, taking responsibility, looking for affection, promising love, promising to change, but none of those things really worked. Finally, as one last desperate act, she sent him a text which promised something a little different.

“I know you probably don’t care, but I’m going to start turning my life around by taking our son to the carnival tomorrow. I thought you should know…”

This was the angle it finally worked. Brandon responded:

“That’s really great. Will talk about it when I get home tomorrow.”

“Also, I have a surprise of my own.”

A surprise of his own? Jeanette didn’t know what to make of it she scanned all of the possible
